Frequently Asked Questions
Is PickPedia free?
Yes, completely free, and that's not changing. If you'd like to chip in toward hosting, you can via a donation.
How does public sharing work?
Public is the point — your collection is meant to be seen. Visitors don't need an account to browse, and other collectors can find you through the community feed. Your email and password are never shown to anyone; everything else you enter is visible.
There's no private mode at the moment. If that's something you'd find useful, let me know in the forum.
What about serial numbers and other private info?
Serial numbers are optional — leave them out if you'd rather. Anything you do enter is public, so treat it like posting to a social platform: enter what you want to share, skip what you don't. If your photos show a serial number and you want to keep it private, blur or crop it before uploading. PickPedia doesn't automatically scrub anything from images.
What gear can I catalogue?
Guitars, amplifiers, and pedals, with type-specific fields for the relevant specs. You can also track services (repairs, mods, setups) and transactions (purchases, sales) on any piece.
Can I track gear I've sold?
Yes. Add a sale transaction and the gear stays in your catalogue with its full history — a nice way to keep the story of pieces that have moved on.
Is there a mobile app?
Not currently. The site is built to work well on mobile browsers.
Can I request features or report bugs?
Yes — please. The Feedback category in the forum is the best place. Other users see it too, which often turns into useful conversations.
Can I delete my account?
There's no self-serve delete yet. Post in the forum and I'll remove your account and data manually.
Who runs PickPedia?
Me. More about that.
