PICK PEDIA

Frequently Asked Questions

Is PickPedia free?

Yes, completely free. This is a hobby project built by a guitarist for guitarists. If you'd like to support me in running the site, you can via a donation.

Can I make my gear private?

The idea behind PickPedia is for open sharing. Your gear, photos, service records, and transaction history can be viewed by anyone. At the moment there are no plans for private listings but that may change one day who knows. Your email address and (obviously your) password are not shared with anyone.

Do I have to enter serial numbers?

Absolutely not. Serial numbers are completely optional. Enter whatever details you're comfortable sharing. This is about your passion for gear, not paperwork.

What if I don't want to share serial numbers?

Simply don't enter them. If you're uploading photos that show serial numbers, it's up to you to blur or crop them out before uploading. PickPedia won't automatically strip or hide any information from photos.

Can I control what information is visible?

The site is public by default, so don't upload anything you're not comfortable sharing with the world. You have full control over what you choose to enter and what photos you upload.

What should I do about serial numbers in photos?

If you want to keep serial numbers private, blur or crop them out before uploading. The responsibility for protecting any sensitive information in photos is yours. Think of it like posting to any public social platform.

Who runs PickPedia?

See About page to find out about me!

Can I delete my account and data?

Account deletion isn't currently available through the interface, but if you want your account and data removed, reach out and I'll take care of it manually.

What gear can I catalog?

Currently you can add guitars, amplifiers, and pedals. Each type has specific fields for relevant specs, and you can track services and transactions for any piece of gear.

Can I track gear I've sold?

Yes! You can add transaction records including sales. It's a nice way to keep a history of your musical journey, even for gear that's moved on.

Is there a mobile app?

Not currently, but the site is designed to work well on mobile browsers.

Can I request features or report bugs?

Absolutely! This is a growing project and feedback is valuable. Reach out through the community or find me on the platform.
